May–July 2026 COE Quota: More for B, Less for A and D
The total allocation rose to 19,052, but category changes differed. Compare all five categories with February–April and read the official formula.
LTA allocated 19,052 COEs for May–July 2026, up 228 from February–April, or approximately 1.21%. The increase was uneven: B and E gained quota, A and D lost quota, and C was unchanged.
| Category | February–April | May–July | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 7,585 | 7,434 | −151 |
| B | 4,864 | 5,205 | +341 |
| C | 1,742 | 1,742 | 0 |
| D | 3,198 | 3,145 | −53 |
| E | 1,435 | 1,526 | +91 |
| Total | 18,824 | 19,052 | +228 |
Use the right period
May–July crosses the second and third calendar quarters. Calling it “Q2” suggests April–June and can produce incorrect comparisons with registration or income data. These figures cover the whole allocation window; an individual exercise has its own published quota.
Where the allocation comes from
The official calculation combines allowable population growth, replacement deregistrations and adjustments. The replacement window is April 2025 through March 2026, with identified guaranteed deregistrations accounted for before the relevant proportion is used.
Category E receives contributions under the published formula, while taxi, Early Turnover Scheme, expired-TCOE and redistribution adjustments affect the final totals. The annex is the appropriate source for reconciling those components.
More total supply does not imply a lower premium
A buyer in A faces a different quota change from a buyer in B. Even an increase in a category does not determine the clearing premium, which also depends on bids and their reserve prices. No fixed dollar fall follows mechanically from 341 additional B certificates across the window.
How to use the announcement
For a new purchase, compare the relevant category’s exercise quota with the complete car package and your budget. For renewal, use PQP. For market analysis, preserve both the total and category breakdown rather than describing the announcement as universal relief.
This is a historical account of the May–July allocation. Later allocation announcements should be compared as new periods, not inserted into these figures.
